Basic Function:
Single-use Kyphoplasty Balloon Catheter is inserted bilaterally into the cancellous
bone of the fractured vertebral body. Inflation by increasing
the volume of the balloons applies force to the surrounding
bone. The applied forces move the bone, thereby restoring as
close to normal anatomy as possible and creating a void. After
the maximum reduction is achieved, the balloons are deflated
and removed from the bone (See Figure 2). The physician then
completes the procedure by stabilizing the reduction.
Maximum Inflation Dimentions for various PKP balloons:
Initial Length (mm) | Working Cannula Diameter (mm) | PSI Rating | Maximum Diameter (mm) | Maximum Volume (cc) |
10 | 3.6 | 400 | 16 | 4 |
15 | 3.6 | 400 | 16 | 4 |
20 | 3.6 | 400 | 16 | 6 |
